Robert Wege is a founding partner of SumIt Credits, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in state and local tax incentives, abatements, and negotiated economic development agreements for capital-intensive companies across the United States.
Robert began his career in 2004 with KPMG, where he built a strong foundation in tax consulting and compliance. He now works closely with manufacturing executives and company controllers to help businesses identify, secure, and administer incentive programs while maintaining strict compliance with state and local requirements.
At SumIt Credits, Robert takes a hands-on, compliance-focused approach, working directly with state agencies, local taxing authorities, and economic development officials to negotiate and structure incentives that align with each client’s operational and financial goals. His work emphasizes accuracy, transparency, and long-term sustainability, protecting clients from compliance risk while maximizing available benefits.
Over the course of his career, Robert has helped secure more than $800 million in incentives and currently advises 150+ clients, with a primary focus on manufacturing, oil and gas, and chemical industries. Many of these client relationships span multiple years and projects, reflecting a long-term, trusted-advisor approach.
